P. Sivaganesh is the Managing Director of Shree Devi Textiles in Coimbatore. A patriotic cloth merchant who is deeply admired by the public and well-loved by his employees, he an ardent Shiva Devotee.
Known for his extensive philanthropy and simple lifestyle—often seen wearing a simple dhoti cotton shirt and often barefoot—he is widely reported to be one of the highest individual income tax payers in the region.
Velliangiri Gaushala Sivaganesh established the Velliangiri Gaushala (also known as Shree Devi Gaushala) in 2014 to rescue and protect cows and bulls, particularly those from the jallikattu scene or destitute, retired or abandoned cows.
Location: Situated on approximately 100 acres of green fertile land at the foothills of the Velliangiri Mountains near the Isha Yoga Center.
Capacity: The well managed shelter currently houses over 3,500 cows.
No Donation Policy: A core principle of Shivaganesh's is that he does not accept monetary donations; instead, they encourage people to save cattle and bring them to the shelter. In fact they do not advertise or have any commercial promotion for their businesses either.
Care: The facility includes large fodder storage, green fodder cutting machines, and a dedicated team of over 60 resident caretakers including 2 qualified veterinarians.
Employee & Community Welfare: Sivaganesh is noted for his unique approach to employee and customer welfare.
Education & Medical Support: He takes comprehensive care of his employees' medical and educational needs, including sponsoring the studies of underprivileged students.
Free Meals: He provides free meals to his customers and employees daily. Additionally, he has been known to deliver free meals to anyone in need. He also provides meals in the General Hospital campus.
COVID-19 Relief: During the pandemic, he donated ₹1 crore to the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund and personally participated in distributing food supplies to the needy. |
